19-20 October 2023 (Scientific Program)

21 October 2023 (Workshops)

InterContinental Sydney (Double Bay, NSW)

The program is hosted here (.pdf) – UPDATED V2.4 (final)!

Welcome to the official website for the 43rd National Conference of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT).

We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of this land we now call Sydney, where this event will take place. We thank the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council for hosting us in Double Bay and welcoming us.

Our national conference will provide a great opportunity to engage with an international cohort of thought leaders in CBT.

We find ourselves in a new era of clinical science, discipline diversity and increasingly challenging social conditions. Our line-up of keynote and invited speakers, who are innovators in research and clinical practice, will present cutting edge ideas in this new generation of cognitive and behavioural therapy. The keynote, invited, and workshop presenters will present exciting research advancements and novel, evidence-based approaches to the management of common and complex difficulties.

This year’s conference theme is “CBT: adapting to change”.

AACBT has always celebrated advances in cognitive and behavioural therapies and evidence-based practice. However, recent global challenges, have highlighted the need to re-think the way we approach the design and delivery of treatments in ways that allow us to adapt to changes in our world. Extending the very best traditions of previous conferences, we plan to bring research to the forefront that has tackled the changing landscape of our time by emphasising best practices in cognitive and behavioural practice and science in ways that can be adapted to meet the changing needs of the community. We invite you to consider presenting your work at this high-profile national forum.

Tickets are on sale here.

If you are having difficulty purchasing tickets through our portal, you can use our Eventbrite page instead.

Our conference offers an amazing opportunity to learn from leading experts about the latest evidence, ideas, knowledge, and innovations in the field of cognitive and behavioural therapies. It provides an exciting opportunity to talk with other like-minded practitioners to share best-practice tips and tricks, be inspired to shape the future of evidence-based practice, and time to connect and network with colleagues.

We provide an interactive, engaging, interesting and welcoming conference to all attendees regardless of where you are at in your career – from new students to highly experienced clinicians and researchers. Join us to hear from a wide range of professionals, including expert clinicians, researchers, and trainers to enrich your knowledge of the latest in evidence-based treatments.

Attendees will have access to:

  • Presentations from leading researchers and practitioners
  • Panel discussions on current topics related to CBT
  • Opportunities to network with your peers
  • Up-to-date information in CBT
  • Awards, recognitions, and special events
