National Conference 2017

AACBT 38th National Conference
26 – 28 October 2017, Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach Hotel, Sydney

Thank you to our many delegates, speakers and volunteers for making our 2017 National Conference the great event that it was.

We look forward to seeing you on 25-27 October 2018 in Brisbane, Queensland for our 39th National Conference.

Welcome to the official website for the 38th National Conference of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT).  The conference is to take place Thursday 26 October – Saturday 28 October 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach Hotel, Sydney.

Extending the very best traditions of previous conferences, our exciting line-up of invited speakers represent the cutting edge of evidence-based practice and science across the lifespan from children, adolescents, adults through to older adulthood.  Keynote speakers and workshop presenters will present evidence-based approaches to the management of complex difficulties using cognitive and behavioural therapies, including third wave and schema approaches.

This year’s conference theme is Innovations in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies across the Lifespan.

Many innovations have occurred in the science and practice of cognitive and behavioural therapy over the past decade.  Variants of cognitive-behaviour therapy, such as schema therapy and third wave approaches, are increasingly developing an evidence-base for a range of clinical presentations across the lifespan.  The conference’s focus on the lifespan will educate health practitioners on how to treat disorders of childhood and adulthood successfully, as well as on how to deal with the difficulties associated with an ageing population.  This year’s conference includes a stellar group of world leaders who specialise in evidence-based interventions for dealing with clients with a range of difficulties, such as personality disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, and cancer.  Some of these problems are the most common and pressing issues facing our society in 2017.  We invite you to join us in learning how to manage these issues, and others, using interventions based on the most recent available evidence.
