Loneliness hurts and does not discriminate.

Although research suggests that loneliness is detrimental to both physical and mental health, the aversive feelings of perceived social isolation are often ignored, or not seen as an important treatment target within therapy.

Research have now highlighted the importance of loneliness and how it Impacts on mental health-loneliness is an antecedent to more severe depression, social anxiety and paranoia symptoms. Treating loneliness involves proper identification and understanding its’ nature and course.

This pub discussion is for anyone who has an interest in learning how to help their clients enhance their connectedness to their social environment and ameliorate the negative impact of loneliness on mental health functioning.
