Pub Discussion

Do you want to learn more about gender diversity amongst young people?

Come along to this pub discussion to learn more, including the myths and the facts.

In the last 5 years there has been an exponential rise internationally in the rates of children and adolescents seeking professional support in relation to their gender.

In Victoria this has led to a significant injection of funding from the state government to reduce waiting lists.

Whilst the demand for services increases, many members of the community are concerned about the ethical issues surrounding professional intervention – particularly medical and surgical – for children and adolescents with gender issues.

During this pub discussion, you will learn more about the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service, what if offers to the patients and their families and how care is being evaluated.

You will also found out what you can do to support young people experiencing difficulties in relation to their gender.

Both Dr Poulakis and Dr Pace are Clinical Psychologists who are part of the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service team.
