Working with Clients with Avoidant Behaviour: Contributions of Attachment Theory
Presenter: Hettie Dubow
This presentation will provide an overview of the Avoidant / Dismissive Attachment pattern, as it informs work with adult clients.
Particular emphasis will be placed on identifying associated interpersonal patterns, emotional regulation strategies and implications for treatment.
A pub discussion is a relaxed opportunity to observe a presentation on an interesting topic related to cognitive behavioural therapy. There are opportunities for the willing to engage in a discussion relating to the topic towards the end of the presentation.
Registration 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start, upstairs at the Terminus Hotel – this pub discussion will be approx. 1 hour in duration.

Hettie Dubow
Hettie completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1995 in South Africa, and a Graduate Diploma in Infant Mental Health (NSW Institute of Psychiatry) in 2005. She started her career working in public mental health settings in Cape Town before taking up a position in the Parent Infant Unit in Christchurch.
