Overview: In this four-day training program, participants will develop a thorough theoretical understanding of cognitive behaviour therapy and the skills specific to this mode of therapy. At the end of the program they will be able to identify activating events, beliefs and consequences; utilise disputational skills; demonstrate the ability to enhance the client’s development of constructive thoughts; and use CBT with problems involving Depression, Anxiety and Anger. Teaching approaches will include lectures, modelling and skills development in small groups with supervision. This course is suitable for the beginner or those wishing to refresh or build on their current skills. A qualification in a health or “helping” profession (eg Counselling, Teaching) is a prerequisite.

He was previously Vice President of Human Resources for the Fireman Group in New York. He is Professor Emeritus of Counselling and Human Resources at the University of Bridgeport.

Monica O'Kelly, Dr
Dr Monica O’Kelly is Director of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Australia.
She is Director of the Australian Institute for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and an adjunct senior lecturer in the School of Psychology and Psychiatry at Monash University.
Monica has trained in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York and is an Associate Fellow of the Institute.
She has also completed the Extramural Training Program at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia and is a fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Monica has published many articles in the area of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
After leaving university, Monica worked as a psychologist with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of government and educational settings before going into private practice.
In the thirty years Monica has been working as a psychologist, she has worked with clients suffering a range of problems. She enjoys helping people rebuild their lives after trauma, childhood abuse and a variety of anxiety conditions.
Monica has particular expertise working with clients suffering sexual problems, work stress and other injuries. Monica sees herself as an emotional coach and enjoys working with competent people who wish to extend themselves.
