Are you interested in individual and group treatment options for adult ADHD, addressing both core symptoms and common comorbidities? This discussion will take a tour of psychosocial adult ADHD treatments, with plenty of room for questions and discussion.

This event will focus on understanding the core and comorbid symptoms of ADHD, formulating with ADHD in mind, and selecting appropriate evidence-based treatments to maximise function and reduce psychological distress.

ADHD will be discussed from the lens of brain development and executive function skills. We will also discuss common risk factors and examples of how symptoms present in daily life. We will focus also on navigating some of the common challenges in diagnostic assessment, for example when age of onset is difficult to determine.

The main segment of the discussion will focus on the provision of psychosocial treatments for ADHD, with a focus on adapting routine treatments for ADHD clients (i.e. anxiety, depression, and so forth) and also providing treatments that target core ADHD symptoms such as executive dysfunction.

Accordingly the main treatment themes will be: executive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation, social skills and relationships, self-compassion, and sleep. We will also touch on parenting work, as this is frequently a challenge for ADHD clients.

There will be chance to complete a formulation activity using a case vignette, and to discuss how the case presentation can be used to inform the formulation; and what the primary treatment priorities would be. There will also be some time for questions.
