Digital CBT: delivering CBT online and through digital resources

Presented by Drs Tania McMahon, Jennifer Connolly and Professor David Kavanagh

REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED

This event is presented from Brisbane (Qld) and is hosted in that timezone (AEST).

COVID-19 has forced us all to accelerate the digital revolution in healthcare, and there have been already been several webinars about delivering psychological services online or by phone. However, none have specifically focused on delivery of CBT—the new opportunities that a digital medium is giving, as well as addressing the issues the medium raises.

This 1-hour webinar briefly reviews practical tips on getting started, addressing potential issues and some challenges that participants have already faced. It describes how CBT practitioners can integrate digital devices and resources in their work—and how this may increase the impact of their treatments. Two brief case examples within the context of COVID-19 are used to provide concrete demonstrations, while a chat button and polls provide opportunities for everyone to contribute.

Because the webinar is relatively short, it provides links to websites and downloadable resources that give further information or that cover topics (such as Medicare items) that have already been addressed extensively in other webinars.

The presenters—Drs Tania McMahon, Jennifer Connolly and Professor David Kavanagh—are all senior members of the e-Mental Health in Practice team, which has been funded by the Australian Department of Health since 2013, to train and support health practitioners across Australia in the use of digital mental health resources and services. All have extensive experience of providing CBT sessions remotely. They have also developed and researched several web programs and apps based on CBT and have a broad knowledge of digital mental health.

Synopsis (with approximate times):
